Hi! I am new to here and just to say hello to all of you,I understand every single word you express ,but,I just can't post in Chinese for I do not have the sofware here in Thailand.
Regarding your question I would say it is possible to breed arowana in fish tanks or concrete pond in door provided you have the space big enough for them to swim,I myself experienced with a pair of red arowana in 6 six feet tank but it was too small for them to swim when they show sign of pairing and fighting,I suggest a concrete pond pond will be feasible,do you know when they flirting in the earthen pond they need a space at least 2 x 3 meter to play around for 6 weeks before they spawn,after they spawn the male will brood the eggs and hide in one bottom corner of their defence territory,female will guarding the area to prevent intruders,after two weeks the eggs hatched and the male will come out of the surface of water during the night ,this is because of oxygen requirement for the youngs as the bottom of pond has less oxygen during the night.
we normally harvest the next morning after we have seen the male in the first night with mouth brooding.
So,just imagine of how big is the concrete pond you require for the breeding of your arowana,enviroment can be synthesized with plants similar to natural enviroment.
arowana is a annual single spawner,even with just a female can also spawn in the tank if you feed it with good nutritional food,that's the reason why breeder prefer to match one male to several females in the pond to expect more harvests every year.
I have been studying their behaviour for more than 5 years and helped a farm in Bangkok to be the first one to breed arowana successfully in Thailand,right now,I left the farm and prepare to work as a consultant for another farm in Malaysia soon,so,just to share some experience with young guys here,I hope someone can translate my post into Chinese then we can continue.
